Set Up Security Roles

 

About Security Roles

Security Roles enable administrators to assign different security roles to:

  • Users (UPN account)

  • Groups (Display name)

These security roles give non-admin users access to other features.

Available Security Roles

  • Bot Conversations

  • Helper Bot Questions

  • Reporting Site Access

  • Designer

Access Security Role Settings

The Security Roles page is located on the SmartHub Administration page.

How to Assign Roles to Users/Groups

Note: Assigned roles are saved in the configuration file SecurityRolesConfiguration.xml found under <SmartHub_install_dir>/Configuration.

To preserve assigned roles on upgrade do not overwrite this file.

  1. To assign roles to a user/group click on the "Add new Roles" button.


  2. A new entry is created.

  3. Specify the following:

    1. Name

      1. User: UPN account

      2. Group: Display Name

    2. Type

      1. User: Role applies to a single user

      2. Group: Role applies to a group of users

  4. Roles (assign one or more roles to the user/group)

    1. Bot Conversations

    2. Helper Bot Questions

    3. Reporting Site Access

    4. Designer

  5. Click UPDATE when done.

How to Edit an Entry

  1. To edit an entry click the "Edit" button.

How to Delete an Entry

  1. To delete an entry click on the "Delete" button.
